RockyMounts Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2020 Toyota RAV4 RKY10004- Video
Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the RockyMounts MonoRail on our 2020 Toyota RAV4. The MonoRail is a platform style bike rack that holds a bike in these trays with these wheel cradles and primarily by our front tire using this wheel hook. That's gonna mean there is no frame contact over the bike rack, making it good for carbon frame and alternative frame bikes. And with the 60-pound weight capacity per bike, it's gonna be good for some e-bikes too with that battery removed. Getting the bike unloaded is pretty straightforward. more

Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination e-bike rack on our 2020 Toyota RAV4. Now, like the name suggests this is going to be a bike rack tailored towards e-bikes. It's got a 70 pound weight capacity per bike, so it's a little bit heavier, a little bit more than the typical 60 pounds you might see in a lot of other bike racks. So if you've got a heavier e-bike this might be a great way to go, plus it's gonna be really easy to operate, like we'll show you later in the video. It's gonna hold the bike in these trays with three straps at the bottom, but primarily with our frame clamp up top that just tightens down around the frame. more

John here and today we're taking a look at the Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack on our 2022 Toyota Venza. This is gonna be a great choice if you need to take your mountain bikes, your electric bikes, any kind of bike that you really need. Now, right off the bat, let's go over some of the specs so you kind of have an idea of what you can put on this bike rack. And there's not too many bikes that you can't put on. Whenever it comes to how it's being held, it's being held by the back tire here with the strap and then also, this hook right here, and it's gonna be pushed up right onto the bike wheel itself. So there's gonna be no frame contact, which means if you have any carbon frame bikes or odd shaped frame bikes, you're gonna be fine to have this on there. more

Yakima OnRamp E-Bike Platform Rack with Ramp Review - 2022 Toyota Venza- Video
John here, today we're taking a look at the Yakima OnRamp on our 2022 Toyota Venza. This is gonna be a great choice if you've got yourself some heavier bikes or maybe some electric bikes and you need to get them to the trail. This is going to have a 66 pound weight capacity which is really good. That's gonna take care of most of your heavier mountain bikes and your electric bikes. And the fact is it has a ramp system which is gonna be very useful and we'll show you that later. But let's say you have those heavier bikes, how are you gonna get them off your bike rack You could lift them off and that is a little bit tougher, but with the ramp system if you aren't as strong whenever it comes to upper body, you're gonna be able to still get those electric bikes off and get them on the road. more

John here and today we're taking a look at the Hollywood Destination 2 bike rack on our 2022 Toyota Venza. This is gonna be a great choice if you need to just get you and a friend out to the bike trails or just to go riding at the park or anywhere else you may need to go with those smaller and lighter bikes. Now, right off the bat, whenever it comes to how it's held, it's going to be held at the frame. It's three points. One that's going to be on the frame here, and then two on the actual wheels. So you're not gonna want to use your odd-shaped frame bikes, even though I will say, it does have a little bit of movement, which is nice, but it will not also be able to go on any of your carbon frame because it could damage it. more

Swagman Current 2 Electric Bikes Rack Review - 2020 Toyota RAV4- Video
How's it going everybody It's Ethan at etrailer here today to talk to you about the Swagman Current bike rack on our 2020 Toyota RAV4. The Current is a two bike platform style bike rack that holds onto our bike primarily by the frame hooks here and by a couple different secondary points of contact down at the bottom with our straps it's capable of supporting up to 60 pounds per bike. One of the things I like about this rack is the tilt away feature. Pulling up on this green knob lever in the back, tilt it down and that should give you plenty of clearance to access cargo hold in the back. As you can see, no real issues with that at all. Plenty of space to get in, change shoes, access anything that you might need from the cargo area and get back out. more

How's it going everyone It's Ethan with etrailer here and today we're gonna be taking a look at the Saris SuperClamp EX on our 2020 Toyota RAV4. The Saris SuperClamp EX is a two bike platform style bike rack that holds onto our bikes primarily through these hooks here. The tire hooks on either side and two extra straps on the bottom. I really like the hooks themselves because they allow you for a wider range of bikes. They hold onto the tires themselves and not the frames which is really nice for alternative style bikes and if you want to avoid carbon fiber bike damage. The rack itself is capable of supporting up to 60 pounds per bike. more

Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack Review - 2020 Toyota RAV4- Video
How's it going, everyone Ethan from etrailer here, and today, we're gonna be taking a look at our Kuat Transfer on our 2020 Toyota RAV 4. The Transfer is a two-bike platform rack, capable of supporting up to 40 pounds per bike, primarily held here by our wheel hooks and one other strap in the back. I like the wheel hooks themselves, as they avoid any sort of frame contact. For example, with our carbon frame bike here, it's just nice to know that there's not gonna be any damages with that, as you're bumping along on the road. And in general, I think it's a pretty solid hold. Another great feature of the Transfer here, if you lift this hook away, you can use your foot actually to access this pedal. more

The Sport Rider SE is a two-bike platform bike rack, capable of supporting bikes up to 80 pounds each, held primarily by these frame hooks, and a couple of straps on either wheel. The frame hooks do hold the bike, like I mentioned, primarily by the frame itself. So if that's something that's important to you or if you have a carbon frame bike, you're probably gonna wanna avoid this type of rack, just 'cause it could potentially damage the frame while you're driving. In order to tilt this bike, you do actually have to remove this pin. more

Hi everyone, it's Evangeline, right here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look at how the Thule Helium XT fits on the 2014 Toyota Prius V. So for your Toyota Prius V, you do have different options for hitch receivers. I currently have the two inch hitch on there, but I do see a lot of people with the inch and a quarter hitch receiver option. When you have that smaller receiver size, your options are limited for bike racks, especially the more premium ones. So this is a great option, because you have that inch and a quarter shank, the included two inch adapter, and you still have that dual wheel mount design and premium features, like locks and a slightly higher weight capacity. more

It holds a bike in these wheel hoops and primarily by our frame up here using our frame hook. Now because it uses a frame hook, we do wanna be cautious of carbon frame bikes and probably avoid using those, because frame contact can damage it. And then with alternative frame bikes, you don't have a good solid attachment point up top, so you probably are gonna need a bike adapter bar to make sure that you're getting solid contact with the bike. more

What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna be checking out the Swagman XC2 on a 2022 Toyota Highlander. It's gonna be a platform style bike rack, that means it's gonna hold the bike by the frame, so it does have this hook that comes down along the frame. Makes contact there, but it is padded, so you don't have to worry about it damaging the frame at all, I still wouldn't recommend putting carbon fiber bikes on there, but all the other bikes should be just fine. Let's take a second to look at how it sits on the back of the vehicle. It doesn't look like it's gonna cover up the taillights too bad, the tires cover up a small portion, you can still see it above there. more

So we have a platform style bike rack which means the bike's gonna sit on this platform. It holds it by the tire up front and there's a strap on the back tire helping hold the bike steady and in place, which since it doesn't make any frame contact, really opens it up for all the different style bikes it can actually hold. So you don't have to worry about putting a carbon fiber bike on here because it's not going to make contact, so no damage done. One of the nice features is that you can tilt away the bike rack with the bike on there. more

It's gonna hold them by the frame here with two zip strips up top to keep it held down along with a third on the seat post to limit our side to side movement, which will help with bike to bike contact. Now, with this, you also have a 150 pound weight capacity, now, it's total, so make sure you're not overloading the bike rack. Now, because it makes frame contact, we do wanna avoid carbon frame bikes and alternative frame bikes or kids' bikes, we probably wanna pick up a bike adapter bar for those alternative frames to make sure the bike hangs level, and for the kids' bikes, it's to make sure that they can fit over this dual arm design, because it's typically not too friendly with those smaller frames. more

Now, for me, this is one of my favorite e-bike racks for a number of reasons and we'll get into that into the video here. But as you can see, we're holding the bike down in this tray with these three wheel straps, and then up top with this clamp. It's gonna tighten down with the hand knob and is fully lockable, so it's secure when you're not around. more

Saris Door County 2 Electric Bike Rack Review - 2021 Toyota 4Runner- Video
Hi, everyone, Aidan here with etrailer.com. And today we're gonna be taking a look at the Saris Door County e-bike rack here on a 2021 Toyota 4Runner. Now this is a pretty unique bike rack in the sense that it has a lift on the back. You plug it into your seven way on your 4Runner, which in this case you will need an extension for, because the included cord does not reach your plug. But you can hit the down arrow on the back of the rack, and you can see, the whole bike rack starts to lower down. This will make it a lot easier to load and unload your bikes from the rack. more

RockyMounts GuideRail 2 Bike Rack Review - 2021 Toyota 4Runner- Video
Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer.com. And today we're gonna be taking a look at the RockyMounts GuideRail two bike platform style bike rack here on our 2021 Toyota 4Runner. So with this platform style bike rack, you're holding the bike by the tires on either side. That's really nice because there's no frame contact, so it's gonna be safe for carbon frame bikes, you don't have to worry about damaging the frame. Safe for alternative frame, we don't have to worry about any sort of bike adapter bars, and with a 60 pound weight capacity, it's even gonna be good for some e-bikes with the battery removed. And something really nice about platform style bike racks is the ability to tilt away. more
